Online Teaching and Learning Certificate Program - Course Assignment Submission Instructions
Participants in the Online Teaching and Learning Certificate Program are required to submit a Canvas course AND a reflection summary. These are the instructions for submitting the course as an assignment in Canvas.
How to submit your Canvas course as a Canvas assignment and complete Reflection
To submit your assignment for the certificate program, you change the Course code before creating the export. [Note that after you create the export, you can adjust the course code to what it was originally, if needed]. The final step is to create a Canvas course export package and submit the .imscc file that is created to the Canvas assignment.
Step 1: Adjust Course Code before creating the export
- Navigate to Settings in your course (Settings is at the bottom of the navigation menu)
- Click the Course Details tab
- Change the Course Code to LastName_FirstName_SubjectMatter (For Example Doe_John_Psychology)
- Select Update Course Details (scroll to bottom of page)
Step 2: Create an Canvas Export Package of your Course
- Navigate to Settings in your course (Settings is at the bottom of the navigation menu)
- From the right-side menu, choose Export Course Content
- On next window, select Export Type: Course
- Select Create Export
- When the export process completes, your file will display as a link titled New Export - click this link to download the .imscc file to your downloads folder
Step 3: Submit your Canvas Export Package by uploading the .imscc file to the Canvas course assignment
- Navigate to the Certificate program course and find the assignment.
- Open the assignment and submit your .imscc file by uploading it from your downloads folder.
Step 4: Complete the Reflection assignment
- Navigate to the Certificate program course and find the Reflection assignment.
- Respond to the prompts and submit your assignment as a PDF or MS Word document.
