Zoom - Minimum Version Requirements for Zoom desktop and Zoom mobile applications
This guide explains what the minumum version requirement is and what to expect when signing in or joining a meeting.
Effective Monday, October 17 at 5:00pm, Zoom meeting attendees are required to use the Zoom computer and mobile application version specified by the administrator. This change affects all UW-Platteville users as well as any guests they invite to their meetings.
Signing into Desktop Client or Mobile Application
When attempting to sign-in to the Zoom desktop client or Zoom mobile application, you will be prompted to update your Zoom software if you are using one that does not meet the minimum requirement. You will get a screen that looks like the image below. In order to continue, you will be required to update your client. (Note: Client version in picture is for example purposes only.)
Starting / Joining a meeting
If you are trying to start or join a meeting hosted by UW-Platteville with an outdated client or mobile application, you will need to complete one of the following to join the meeting:
- Update your device to the required version
- Join using the web browser client
- Join from a different device that is running a compatible version of Zoom
Testing your Client Version:
If you are not sure if your desktop client or mobile application version is compatible, you can join the following meeting to test your client. If you see the "waiting for host" message shown below, you are up to date. If you are on an older version, you will be prompted to update your device.
