Software Requirements - University owned computers
Software requirements for all campus owned workstations, laptops or tablets.
University-owned computers running a supported operating system must be properly configured to be connected to the campus network. This also requires that a minimal set of software is installed on the workstation.
If you have a university-owned workstation, laptop, or tablet still running Windows 7 please contact the Help Desk with your asset tag number to schedule your upgrade to Windows 10!

Windows 10 Professional/Enterprise
- Windows 10 (Minimum version 20H2, recommended version 21H2) see Microsoft Support - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet
- Run Windows Update and install all critical updates. (Automatic Updates must be set to ON)
- Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection
- Microsoft SCCM Configuration Manager
- Microsoft File and Print Sharing must be removed.

- Windows 7 Service Pack (Minimum: Service Pack 1, Recommended: Service Pack 1)
- Run Windows Update and install all critical updates. (Automatic Updates must be set to ON)

- Microsoft File and Print Sharing must be removed.
Windows XP Professional ** No Longer Supported by Microsoft** see here.
ITS still provides limited support as needed. Some existing instrumentation/hardware requires Windows XP. These workstations will be supported. If you have a workstation that still has Windows XP which doesn't have these requirements, please notify the Help Desk immediately.
Mac OS X 10.15/10.14/10.13/10.12/10.11/10.10/10.9/10.8
- Run Software Update and install all critical updates. (Check for updates automatically must be Enabled)
- All File Sharing services must be set to OFF.
