Online Storage - Map a drive (Windows 10)
How to connect to network storage (J-Drive, S-Drive) on Windows 10 while on the UW-Platteville campus network.
- Open a new Windows Explorer window by clicking on the folder icon in the taskbar or from the start menu by search for "File Explorer. A shortcut is also simultaneously pressing the Windows logo key and "E"
- Click on "This PC" in the left navigation bar and then "Map network drive"
- Select the drive letter you would like to map. The example below shows how to map your user drive or J drive. You must replace "firstinitial" with the first letter of your username, and "NetID" with your campus username. Other common drives to map on campus are found at the bottom of this document. You can also choose to have your computer map this drive every time you log in by checking the box next to "Reconnect at sign-in"
- Enter your campus credentials and click "OK". If you are connecting a personal machine that is not on the campus domain, check the box to connect using different credentials and enter "ION\username" (without quotes) in the username field, then your campus password.
The network drive will now be listed in your Windows Explorer window. If you have questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or email@example.com. You may also visit the Help Desk on the first floor of the Karrmann Library.
