Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) – Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I get access to Oracle Business Intelligence (BI)?
A: Level 1 Consumer training is required for access. Upcoming trainings are posted on the ITS Training Calendar.


Q: Does BI access require two-factor authentication?
A: Yes. To complete authentication in BI, you are required to enroll in Duo.

Q: How do I enroll in Duo for two-factor authentication?
A: Simply follow the instructions at Security - Enrolling in Duo and managing your devices

Q: Once I’ve logged into BI, how do I see the dashboards?
A: After you have successfully logged into BI, click on the Dashboards drop-down on the menu:

Q: What if I see issues with the information on a dashboard?
A: If you find problems or discrepancies on a dashboard, contact the ITS Help Desk at x1400 or email helpdesk@uwplatt.edu and provide detailed information. They will create an issue in Footprints and assign it to the Pioneer Data Services team.

Q: Why doesn't the dashboard populate results right away?
A: On some dashboards, you will need to select your prompts, then check the "Run Analysis" radio button and then click "Apply" to see results.

Q: What if I need updates or additions to a dashboard (Ex: additional official majors, program changes or admit types)?
A: Official majors, program changes and admit types are added to Business Intelligence by a manual process. When there is an addition or update, we are notified by the Registrar's Office and make the necessary changes.  If you see something that is incorrect or outdated, please contact the Registrar's Office.  

Q: How do I access the UW-Platteville Class Availability dashboard?
A: Class Availability is available to all consumers and advisors by logging into Business Intelligence with your username and password.  Other faculty and students should utilize Class List (login not required).

Q: What does the 'Schedule Print' prompt on the Class Availability dashboard mean?
A: This prompt is defaulted to 'Y' to display classes available to all students; 'N' displays classes that are intended for specific pockets of students, such as those participating in Study Abroad/Exchange or sections specifically for students at a particular high school, etc.

Q:  Am I able to access BI when I’m off-campus?
