Finding MAC/IP Address

Microsoft Windows

• Windows 10, 2000, XP (Home, Pro and Media Center)

1. Click Start > Run > Type in CMD hit enter
2. Type in IPCONFIG/ALL
3. MAC address is listed after Physical Address

Microsoft Windows Vista

• Accessing the command prompt

1. Click Start icon
2. In the area marked "search" write "cmd"
3. The results should come back with 1 hit and it should be cmd or cmd.exe

• Finding MAC Address

1. Open the command prompt
2. Type in "ipconfig/all"
3. This will retrieve a list of all the networking devices on the computer.
4. The one for the NIC should be titled "Local Area Connection"
5. The MAC address is in the following composition XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX which includes only digits from 0-9 and letters from A-F

• IP Releasing/Renewing

1. To be able to release and or renew, you have to right click on the cmd program and click "run as administrator" (this is the case for all users, including admin users)
2. To release type in the command prompt "ipconfig/release"
3. Once the command prompt finishes releasing and gives the ip report, type in the command prompt "ipconfig/renew".

Apple Macintosh

• There are 2 different ways to find a MAC address on a MAC computer
1. Go to the Apple Menu > click on About this MAC > click on More Info, scroll down to the bottom of the first panel, and the network information is displayed, including MAC address, IP address, etc.
2. Go to the Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, and the MAC address will be listed.

FYI

• 2000 and newer MACs...the MAC address and otehr system specs are printed on a sticker on the back of or underneath the case.

MICROSOFT XBOX

1. Turn on your Xbox game console with no game disk in the drive tray.

2. From the Xbox Dashboard, choose Xbox Live.

3. Your Xbox should display a message saying something like "A network connection could not be created".

4. Press A to continue. The Connect Status screen will be displayed.

5. Choose the Settings option, and then go to the Network Settings screen. Your Xbox MAC Address is displayed at the bottom right of the screen, and looks like this example: MAC=001122334455.

6. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

MICROSOFT XBOX 360 (Pre-NXE)

1. Go to the System area of the Xbox Dashboard and select Network Settings

2. Select Edit Settings.

3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.

4. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address.

5. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

MICROSOFT XBOX 360 (NXE)

1. Go to My Xbox in the Xbox Dashboard and select System Settings 

2. Click Network Settings, Configure Network

3. From Additional Settings, select Advanced Settings.

4. Select Alternate Mac Address

5. At the bottom of this screen you'll see a heading called Wired MAC Address.

6. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet

 

MICROSOFT XBOX ONE

1. Press the Menu button on your controller

2. Navigate to the Settings app

3. Navigate to the Network menu

4. Navigate to the Advanced menu.

5. The MAC address will be displayed as Wired MAC. It will consist of alphanumeric characters and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.

6. 5. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

SONY PLAYSTATION 2 (PS2)

1. Load the Network Adapter Start-up Disk in your PlayStation 2 game console.

2. Make sure your Network Cable is disconnected.

3. Walk through the steps that the Start-up Disk presents until it starts testing your connection. Since you do not have a network cable connected this test will fail.

4. Now press the select button to display the MAC address.

5. The 12 digit hex number displayed is the MAC address of your PlayStation 2.

6. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

SONY PLAYSTATION 3 (PS3)

1. Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left). Press ‘X’

2. Navigate up/down until you see the System Settings icon. Press ‘X’

3. Scroll up/down until you see System Information. Press ‘X’

4. The MAC address will be displayed. It will consist of alphanumeric characters and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.

5. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet

 

SONY PLAYSTATION 4 (PS4)

1. Navigate to the Settings icon (located on the far left). Press ‘X’

2. Navigate up/down until you see the System Settings icon. Press ‘X’

3. Scroll up/down until you see System Information. Press ‘X’

4. The MAC address will be displayed. It will consist of alphanumeric characters and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.

5. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

NINTENDO GAMECUBE

1. Remove the GameCube’s broadband adapter from the console if it is already installed

2. The MAC address is printed on the underside of the adapter; it is a 12 digit hex code.

3. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

NINTENDO SWITCH

2. Once the switch is configured to use a wired connection, navigate to System Settings.

3. Navigate to the Internet page.

4. The System MAC address will be displayed. It will consist of alphanumeric characters and have the format xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx.

5. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.

 

NINTENDO WII

1. Go to the Wii options.

2. Go to the Wii Settings

3. Scroll over until you get to the Internet option

4. Open up the Console Information

5. There should be a 12 digit hex code.

6. This is the address you will need to register with ResNet.
