Virtual Desktop - Running VMware View
Instructions for running VMware view
NOTE: Effective 10.29.21, two-factor authentication is required to access virtual desktops at UW-Platteville. You will need your Duo device or back-up codes ready when logging in.
If you have not installed the VMware client, refer to document [Link for document 30206 is unavailable at this time]
1. Open the application. The server information should already be populated.
2. Double-Click the "view.ion.uwplatt.edu" server.
3. Enter your UW-Platteville NetID and password. Click Login.
4. Enter a passcode or the number (1-4) indicating your chosen device. Click Login and complete the two-factor authentication process.

NOTE: You will only be offered the number of devices which you have registered (1-4). If you have more than four devices registered, you will see a shorter message like that below. Type in the chosen Duo method to authenticate (e.g. push1 = push to my primary device). Click Login and complete the authentication process.

5. Select appropriate machine, i.e. "Bears Den" by double-clicking. NOTE: You will only see the desktops to which you have access.
If you have questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu. You may also visit the Help Desk on the first floor of the Karrmann Library.
Your Virtual Machine will load now. Once it loads you should see the standard Windows desktop. When you are finished working, you can go to the Start Menu and select “Shut Down” like you would on a regular computer.
