Accounts - Account provisioning for students

Account provisioning and disablement schedule for UW-Platteville on-campus and online students. This schedule does not apply to students enrolled in UW-Platteville's print-based distance learning program.

Disablement

Network accounts for students are disabled according to the schedule below. You will receive an email 30 days prior to your account being disabled. See below for tips on "Preparing for account disablement".

Note: This schedule does not apply to students enrolled in UW-Platteville's print-based distance learning program.
  • You are registered for FALL classes
    • Your account will remain active until September of the Next Year.
  • You are registered for WINTERIM classes
    • Your account will remain active until April of the Next Year.
  • You are registered for SPRING classes
    • Your account will remain active until April of the Next Year.
  • You are registered for SUMMER classes
    • Your account will remain active until April of the Next Year.

Free Office applications will also expire

If you have downloaded any of the free Office applications associated with your UW-Platteville Office 365 account, these too will expire when your account is disabled. NOTE: Microsoft determines exactly when software access expires and may do so without notice; UW-Platteville has no control over the exact date of software expiration.

Preparing for account disablement

By planning accordingly, you can avoid missed email, lost files, and disrupted workflow. Before your account is disabled:

  • Take your personal files with you (from network drives, OneDrive and/or Teams) by downloading to a personal computer or portable storage device or transferring to another cloud service
  • Set up an auto-reply notifying senders that you are no longer with the university. Include new contact information at your discretion.
  • Well in advance of account disablement, open a new email account with another service, e.g. Gmail and notify your contacts, prospective employers, etc. of the new contact information
  • NOTE: You may forward your UW-Platteville email to another email address for the interim period. However, this will result in you receiving all messages sent to you individually and as part of the student body.

Permanent deletion

When your UW-Platteville account is disabled, your Office 365 account and its contents will be permanently deleted. After 18 months, your UW-Platteville account will be permanently deleted along with the contents of your home directory (J:\).
