Hardware- Instructor Station FAQ
Frequently asked questions for using the instructor station in high-tech classrooms.
How do I turn the projector on?
Press the ON button in the display box. The Display ON button will flash for approximately 60 seconds. The projected image will appear and system control will return after the ON button stops flashing. Classroom control systems have an internal timer that will automatically power down the system after 120 minutes of control panel inactivity. To extend this time, you can press any controller button at any time to restart the timer. If the system powers down, control will return after the OFF button stops flashing.
How do I view a device on the projector?
Each room has a variety of sources. Simply select the appropriate device on the control panel to display it.
Note: VCR, DVD, Blu-Ray, Aux Video, and Aux HDMI sources may not be available in all classrooms.
Note: In some classrooms the device will power on automatically when the device button is pressed. In other rooms you will need to turn the device on manually.
How do I adjust the volume/audio?
To adjust the volume, turn the volume knob on the control panel. If Aux Computer audio is not present, confirm the 1/8" mini plug is connected, the volume control on your device is not muted, and the volume level on the control panel is not turned down. If Aux HDMI audio is not present, confirm the default output audio settings on the mobile device are set correctly. If vocal reinforcement or assistive listening is needed, please contact the ITS Help Desk.
How do I turn the projector off?
Press the OFF button in the display box. The Display OFF button will flash for approx. 2 minutes. System control will return after the OFF button stops flashing.
How do I connect my laptop or mobile device to the teaching station?
You will find the appropriate cable in the drawer in the equipment rack. Connect one end of the cable to either the AUX PC (VGA) connection or AUX HDMI connection at the top of the rack. Connect the other end to your mobile device. On the control panel, select the input that matches the connection. There are adapters in the rack drawer if you need to use a DisplayPort, HDMI, or other output to connect your device to the system.

The optimal computer display setting for most classrooms is:
4x3 aspect ratio is 1024 x 768 (60Hz) 16x10 aspect ratio is 1280 x 800 (60Hz)
No image on the screen? Try these Tips:
• Check if the Video Mute button is activated.
• Firmly press another source button on the control panel and then select the original source again.
• In some cases, your mobile device may need to be restarted when connected to the VGA or HDMI/adapter cable.
• Press OFF and wait for the OFF light to stop flashing, then restart the room system by pressing the ON button. This will take a few minutes as the system cools down and warms up.
