Camtasia Studio 9 - Editing Clips, Adding Animations, Panning and Zooming

This article will instruct users on how to edit clips, add animations to clips, and pan and zoom on Camtasia Studio 8

Editing the Beginning or End of a Clip

1. Move the cursor to the beginning or end of a clip
2. Place the cursor on the edge until a double sided arrow appears
3. Drag the edge of the clip to the desired cut off area
Note: The edit can be undone by going back to the edge of the clip and dragging it back to it original length.

Editing the middle of a Clip

1. Move the playhead to the end of the desired area to remove
2. Drag the Green Box next to the playhead until the area to be removed is highlighted
3. Click the Scissor Button to remove the area

Adding Animations

1. Go to the Animations tab on the left side of the screen 
2. Click and drag the animation that you want to add and move it to the object you want animated
 
3. Double click the dot at the end of the animation arrow to edit the animation
  • Use the scale slider to increase or decrease the size of the object
  • Use opacity to change how transparent or opaque an object is
  • Use the position tool to move the object around, or move the object on the canvas (objects take the most straight line path to their endpoint throughout the animation, objects will move from where they are at the beginning of the arrow to where they are at the end of the arrow)
  • Use the rotation tool to rotate the object or make it spin

Zooming and Panning

Zooming

1. Click on the Zoom-n-Pan tab
2. Use the scale slider to pick a zoom, or adjust the box around the clip
3. Increase the duration of the zoom by dragging one end of the arrow to make it stretch, decrease the duration by dragging the arrow to make it shrink
4. To return to the normal zoom, move the playhead to a new location and change the scale in the Zoom-n-Pan tab

Panning

1. Click on the Zoom-n-Pan tab
2. Move the box around the clip of video in the Zoom-n-Pan tab to pan to a spot in the video
3. Increase the duration of the zoom by dragging one end of the arrow to make it stretch, decrease the duration by dragging the arrow to make it shrink
4. To return the focus to the center, move the playhead to a new location and adjust the pan back to the center

Note: zooming and panning can be combined together and with other animation to occur at the same time.
