Spring semester has settled in and so have the cyber predators. The ITS Help Desk has received reports of TWO phishing messages this evening.
One claims to be an "Important Message from University Admin" using the address of "Donna Anderson". It asks you to "click on review" to read them.
The second message offers work as a "Part time Pet walker [sic]" and claims to be from the uwplatt accounts of "Jake Agate" or "Bridget Bastman" OR "Donna Anderson". The message includes a hotmail
email address to contact for more information.
Both of these messages are scams.
- If you receive such an email from "Donna Anderson", "Jake Agate", or "Bridget Bastman", please DELETE immediately.
- If you receive either of these messages from another sender or email address, please NOTIFY the ITS Help Desk.
- If you responded to either of these messages, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and contact the ITS Help Desk.
How can I tell if a message is not legit? We've mocked up real-life examples in the ITS Knowledge Base, including today's attempts.
If you have questions about this phishing attempt, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.642.1400 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
