ALERT 04.27.20: Phishing attempt claims to be voicemail message
Posted: 12:35:00, Monday, Apr 27, 2020 Expiration: 12:35:00, Monday, May 4, 2020
The ITS Help Desk is receiving numerous reports of a phishing attempt claiming to be a voicemail message from "Olivia" that came through our "VO1P [sic]" system. The message itself is empty. The sender appears as "Uwplatt VO1P" (with the number one for the letter I) with a Cisco-messaging address @wustl.edu, and the attachment is an HTM file.
NOTE: A voice message forwarded through UW-Platteville's phone system will arrive as a .wav audio file and will come from a uwplatt domain. NEVER open any attachment you were not expecting.
- If you receive this email from "Uwplatt VO1P" at a "Cisco-messaging" address, please DELETE.
- If you receive this email from another sender, please REPORT to the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
- If you opened the attachment from "Uwplatt VO1P", please CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD immediately and contact the ITS Help Desk for further instruction.
