ITS Maintenance Outages: Storage/SHARED1 migration begins December 28

ITS continues its migration of network storage volumes to new servers with SHARED1 (S-drive) on December 28-30. SHARED1 will become READ-ONLY beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28 and extending through Wednesday, Dec. 30. During this time, if you need to make changes to a file on the S-drive, you will need to save the file to another location until migration is complete.

The new SHARED1 should be available for read-write access after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30; however, file migration may continue until 7:00 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4. Files migrate from oldest to newest, so there is a chance that your newest files will not be in the new SHARED1 until Monday morning.

Changes in effect after the SHARED1 (S-drive) migration beginning December 30*:

    Shortcuts to files on SHARED1 will need to be updated.
    Links embedded within files and processes between files, such as mail merge in Word using Excel data, may need to be updated as well.
    SHARED1 will be accessible via mobile device and from off-campus through Storage-on-the-Go at or through a virtual desktop.
    Mac users will need to map the new drives; see instructions at [Link for document 30263 is unavailable at this time] .

*After December 30, if you are unable to access your data on the S-drive, please restart your computer.  If issues persist, contact the ITS Help Desk at or 608.342.1400.

*After January 4, if it appears files are missing from your S-drive, it may be that your data is still being migrated. If you have concerns, please contact the ITS Help Desk at or 608.342.1400.
