ITS Update: Phishing attempt spoofs Office 365 login page

The ITS Help Desk has received reports of a phishing message advising you to "register you [sic] ID" to "help us eradicate...fake Emails". You are then instructed to follow a link to "Register your ID now". The link takes you to a very good imitation of the Office 365 login page.

Pioneers should remember that ITS will NEVER ask for your password in an email - or through a link from an email. Never, ever. SERIOUSLY.

  • If you receive such an email, please DELETE IT immediately.
  • If you clicked on the link and logged in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400.

How can I tell the message a message is not legit?

We've mocked up real-life examples in the ITS Knowledge Base, including today's attempt.

If you have questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.  You may also visit the Help Desk on the first floor of the Karrmann Library.
