The ITS Help Desk has received numerous reports of a phishing message claiming your mailbox "exceeds the limit of use-age[sic] and you will not be able to send emails". You are then instructed to "CLICK HERE to reset and Activate" your account. The message appears to come from the UW-Platteville account of Susan L. Meier.

  • If you receive such an email from "Susan L. Meier", please DELETE immediately.
  • If you receive such an email from someone else, please REPORT it to the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
  • If you clicked the link and logged in with your campus username and password, CHANGE YOUR CAMPUS PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.

Pioneers are reminded that ITS will never ask for your password in an email - directly or via link or attachment.  Never, ever.  SERIOUSLY!

HOW CAN I TELL IF A MESSAGE IS NOT LEGIT?

We've mocked up real-life examples in the ITS Knowledge Base.
