Posted: 11:32:50, Thursday, Jun 15, 2017   Expiration: 11:32:50, Thursday, Jun 22, 2017

The ITS Help Desk has received over 100 reports of a phishing message asking you to verify your account information or lose access. You are then instructed to VERIFY by clicking a link and entering information on a mocked-up form. The message appears to come from the uwplatt account of "Kristen Grender".

Pioneers should remember that ITS will NEVER ask for your password in an email - or through a link from an email. Never, ever.  SERIOUSLY!

  • If you receive such an emai from "Kristen Grender", please DELETE immediately.
  • If you receive such an email from another sender, please REPORT it to the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
  • If you clicked on the link and logged in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and contact the ITS Help Desk.

How can I tell if a message is not legit?

We've mocked up real-life examples in the ITS Knowledge Base, including today's attempt.

If you have questions regarding this phishing attempt, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
