The ITS Help Desk has received reports of a phishing message "strongly recommending" that you "update your Uwplatt Email" account now" for security reasons. You are then instructed to "CLICK Uwplatt Login" and enter your account information on a mocked up form. The message appears to come from the uwplatt account of "Bailey N Treppish". The subject may be your own email address OR "Dear Uwplatt Customer!"
Pioneers should remember that ITS will NEVER ask for your password in an email - or through a link from an email. Never, ever. SERIOUSLY!
- If you receive such an emai from "Bailey N Treppish", please DELETE immediately.
- If you receive such an email from another sender, please REPORT it to the ITS Help Desk at helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
- If you clicked on the link and logged in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and contact the ITS Help Desk.
How can I tell if a message is not legit?
We've mocked up real-life examples in the ITS Knowledge Base, including today's attempt.
If you have questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu. You may also visit the Help Desk on the first floor of the Karrmann Library.
