ITS Update: Business Intelligence affected July 20 as Data Warehouse moves to new server

Posted: 11:24:21, Wednesday, Jul 12, 2017   Expiration: 11:24:21, Monday, Jul 24, 2017

On Thursday, Jul. 20 ITS staff will begin moving the Data Warehouse to its new server in preparation for the scheduled PASS 9.2 upgrade on July 27. The process will begin at approximately 11:30 a.m on Thursday, Jul. 20 and is expected to take several days. Every effort will be made to restore service as quickly as possible. A notice will be posted on the BI landing page when the process is completed.

What is the Data Warehouse?

The Data Warehouse contains primarily student data used for Business Intelligence (BI) reporting.

Why is this outage necessary?

Currently PASS and the Data Warehouse are on the same server, which is running out of space.

The transfer to the new server needs to be completed prior to PASS 9.2 upgrade on July 27 to ensure there is enough space.

What does this outage mean to me?

During the outage period, data for BI will not refresh. We recommend you do NOT run reports while the outage is underway. Every effort will be made to restore service as quickly as possible.

If you have questions regarding this outage, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
