The ITS Help Desk has received numerous reports of a phishing message claiming "All staffs [sic] and Students are expected to migrate to the New 2017 Microsoft Web Portal". You are then instructed to "click here to migrate" in order to access a variety of information. The message appears to come from the campus account of “Liam Gerl IV” (no subject) or "Matt Baker Jr" (subject: Help Desk).

Pioneers should remember that ITS will NEVER ask for your password in an email - or through a link from an email. Never, ever. SERIOUSLY.
  • If you receive such an email from “Liam Gerl IV” or "Matt Baker Jr", please DELETE immediately.
  • If you receive such an email from another sender or uwplatt account, please NOTIFY the ITS Help Desk.
  • If you clicked on the link and logged in, CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD IMMEDIATELY and contact the ITS Help Desk.
How can I tell if a message is not legit? We've mocked up real-life examples in the ITS Knowledge Base, including today's attempt.

If you have questions regarding these incidents, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or helpdesk@uwplatt.edu.
