Dashboard - Profile Editing

A guide to using the Dashboard Profile System. All faculty and staff can have a personal profile on WWW. Their profile is maintained and edited in the Dashboard Profile Page. Changes made in the Dashboard Profile can be pushed to the WWW profile.

Trying to locate where to edit your profile?

Your profile can be edited in the Dashboard. There are two options: a direct link, or from the Dashboard home.

Option 1: Direct Link

1. Go directly to https://dashboard.uwplatt.edu/admin/profile/edit.

2. Go to https://dashboard.uwplatt.edu.

3. Click the avatar in the top right corner of the page. Then click Profile.

4. Finally, click Edit my Profile

Personal Information

You can edit the prefix and suffix for your name, your Personal Website URL, and if your profile is published to WWW. Your name and username are displayed in this section but are not editable here. To update your name, you will need to have it be changed in PASS for students or HRS for Faculty and Staff.

Note: This section auto saves changes.

Note: The University holds the right to remove any personal web sites that it chooses not to associate with.

Contact Information

The contact information is updated nightly from PASS and HRS. If you have a primary phone number or address listed in PASS or HRS that is automatically be pulled into your profile. If none is listed, please either update them in PASS for students or HRS for Faculty and Staff. You can create and manage additional contact information here.

Note: Modifying contact information here will not be pushed back to PASS or HRS.

Phone Number

  1. To create or edit a phone number either click the Create button to create a new phone number or click the Edit button next to the phone number you would like to edit.
  2. A form shows allowing you to enter the required information. 
  3. Then click Save or Cancel to finish.
  4. Clicking the Delete button will delete the phone number from your profile.
Contact Info

Note: If you delete a phone number that is being pulled from PASS or HRS it will be recreated during the next sync.

Address

  1. To create or edit a address either click the Create button to create a new address or click the Edit button next to the address you would like to edit.
  2. A form shows allowing you to enter the required information. 
  3. Then click Save or Cancel to finish.
  4. Clicking the Delete button will delete the address from your profile.

Note: If you delete the address that is being pulled from PASS or HRS it will be recreated during the next sync.

University Appointments

  1. To create or edit a university appointment either click the Create button to create a new appointment or click the Edit button next to the appointment you would like to edit.
  2. A form shows allowing you to enter the required information. This is where you can set your working title and office location for your profile. There is an option to include or exclude the appointment from being displayed on your WWW profile. 
  3. Then click Save or Cancel to finish.
  4. Clicking the Delete button will delete the university appointment from your profile.

Note: If you delete the appointment (i.e. your department) that you are listed under in HRS that appointment will be receated during the next sync.

Note: Your working title and office location that is shown on WWW comes from the first created appointment that is set to Show on Web

Note: Any department that has a department page on WWW will link to your profile.

Note: This feature is accessible only to faculty and staff by default. A request can be made to grant access if needed.

Additional Profile Fields

  1. To create or edit an additional profile field either click the Create button to create a new additional profile field or click the Edit button next to the additional profile field you would like to edit.
  2. A form shows allowing you to enter the required information. 
  3. Then click Save or Cancel to finish.
  4. Clicking the Delete button will delete the additional profile field from your profile.

Note: When you delete a response, it is permanently removed from your profile. You will have to re-create it. If you have not clicked the Push to WWW button yet and it was already on your public profile on the WWW web site. You can get a copy of it from there https://www.uwplatt.edu/profile/{username}.

Note: Only fields with publish checked will be published to WWW.

Note: The responses are in a plain text field now. There is no WYSIWYG capabilities at this time.

Note: If there is a field you would like to have added please send a request in the Web Development's Request form. Located in the contextual menu in the top right corner of the Dashboard labeled Request Form. Please set the Type of Request to "Web Request for Change...". Marketing and Web will review the request.

Profile Photo

1. To upload a profile photo click the Browse button under the current profile photo.

2. Select the photo from your computer that you would like to upload and the click Open.
3. The photo will be uploaded, and a success message will show.

Note: To upload a different photo right away after changing it you will have to refresh the page.

Note: Currently there is not a way to delete the profile photo and get the default photo.

Technical Note: The system renames the profile photo on upload to a unique random URL.

Upload Resume or Vita

1. To upload a resume or vita click the Browse button under the current resume or vita.
2. Select the resume or vita from your computer that you would like to upload.
3. Click Open

4. The resume or vita will be uploaded, and a success message will show.

5. You can click the red Delete button to delete the resume or vita.

Note: To upload a different resume or vita right away after changing it you will have to refresh the page.

Note: If you have a resume or vita already uploaded, you can just upload an updated version. The system it will automatically delete the existing resume or vita.

Note for Faculty: Faculty 180 allows you to export your vita to a PDF that you can upload here. For direction on exporting please start watching at minute 15:45 to 18:11.

Campuses and Colleges

The campuses and colleges section allows you to indicate what campuses or colleges you belong to.

Push to WWW

The profile is only updated on WWW after clicking the green Push to WWW button at the top of the profile page. You can make all the changes you want to your profile and they will not be pushed to WWW.

Note: Under the Personal Info section the Publish Profile to WWW must be checked to publish you profile to WWW. Unchecking Publish Profile to WWW and clicking Push to WWW will unpublish your profile from WWW.

Note: This feature is accessible only to faculty and staff by default. A request can be made to grant access if needed.

Technical Note: When you click Push to WWW the Dashboard queues a job to push the profile to WWW. It could be updated in the next minute or it could take 30 minutes. If it is not updated in a few hours, please contact Web Development.

What else uses the Profile System

The ECM System uses the basic profile data like name, email, phone number, address, department so you don't have to enter that information every time you fill out an ECM Form. If you are missing a phone number or address the ECM System will push you over to your profile to enter the needed infomation. Look for the red indicator message in the Contact Info section and added the missing information. Then click the blue Proceed to Form button on the top right of the profile page.
