Software - Removing Adobe Flash from a university computer
Effective December 31, 2020, Adobe Flash will no longer be supported by the vendor. For this reason, Adobe Flash will be removed from all UW-Platteville systems beginning December 11 with the implementation of a removal package.
The Notification
All systems with Flash will display a message that “Required software changes have been made on this computer”.

A similar message will appear in the system tray (lower right corner of your screen by the clock) with an icon.

If you click on this icon, you will see the option to “View Required Software”. If you click on “View Required Software” it will bring up the same dialog box at the top of this document.

The Removal
To view the newly required software, open Software Center and click on “Required” in the Applications tab.

Click on the listed software (Adobe - Flash Player) to view details, including the deadline for removal. You can opt to remove the software right away or wait until January 4, 2021, when the software will automatically be removed. If you opt to remove the software right away, all of the dialogue boxes mentioned above will be cleared.
