ITS Communications - Scheduled Outages

This document explains the regularly scheduled outage windows for ITS services at UW-Platteville.

Information Technology Services (ITS) regularly schedules system outages for upgrades, maintenance and repair.  Any or all IT services could be down during an outage, including:

Most customers should be able to use their computers locally when an outage occurs.  These outages fall into two categories.
  1. Scheduled Maintenance: Fridays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Most ITS repairs or upgrades will occur during this regular Friday afternoon outage.
  2. Unplanned Outages: On rare occasions, security vulnerabilities or performance problems may necessitate unscheduled outages during normal University hours.  Every effort will be made to inform the campus of these outages ahead of time.  Services will be restored as quickly as possible.
