TIPS - Locking your computer screen
Problem: You have numerous documents or windows open, but you need to step away from your computer. You don't want to close all your documents and log off, but you also do not want to leave your computer open to others. What do you do?
Solution for Windows
For a Windows PC, press Windows icon + L (for Lock) simultaneously on your keyboard.
Solutions for Mac
For a Mac, use one of the following options:
- Press CTRL + CMD + Q simultaneously on your keyboard
- Click on Apple icon in upper left and select Lock Screen from the menu
Waking your computer
Once locked, your campus monitor will display the login page; your documents and
windows will be secure. When you are ready to go back to work, simply move the mouse or select any key to “wake” your monitor. Log in as
usual.
