Yes. Service costs will be charged as a whole and shared by all departments per line rather than per phone. Departments will lease phones rather than buying them. Departments will no longer incur unpredictable costs for desk phones or phone repairs. If I opt not to have a desk phone, will my department still be charged?
All departments on campus will split the cost of service according to the number of users in the department. Departments will pay an additional monthly fee for each phone that is leased. If you do not use a desk phone, your department will not be charged that lease fee.
I have one line but two phones. How will my department be charged?
The department will be charged monthly fees for two leased phones and one service charge for the phone line.
Is long distance still a separate charge in the new system?
Yes, long distance charges will be billed in addition to the monthly lease and service fees.
I am going to be on sabbatical for a semester/year. Can I return my phone to avoid charges while I am gone?
Your department may return the desk phone to ITS; the charge for the phone will be removed from the department’s bill for the duration of your absence. The department will be charged for services, however, as you may continue to use your direct dial line through Jabber, voicemail-to-email, and single number reach.
