D2L: Attendance (Faculty)

VERSION: 10.0 OR HIGHER

The Attendance tool is used to create registers that track attendance for activities within a course. Track attendance for any number of activities and customize the registers as needed. In addition to recording attendance, it is possible to email students directly from the Attendance register.

REQUIRED:
  • Instructor access to a Desire2Learn course
STEPS TO FOLLOW:
  1. Log into Desire2Learn.
  2. Select a course.
  3. Click the More tab in the navigation bar.
  4. Choose Attendance.
  5. On the main Attendance page, click New Register.
  6. In the dialog box that opens, enter a  Name for the register.
  7. Enter a Description (optional).
  8. Choose an attendance scheme from the Attendance Scheme drop-down list.
  9. Enter a percentage in the Cause for Concern field.
  10. To make the register visible to students, select the check box Allow users to view this attendance register.

Note: The Cause for Concern metric tracks users that fail to meet attendance requirements.  Enter the highest unacceptable percentage attendance.  When a student exceeds this, a warning appears beside under-performing users' names on the Attendance Data page.
