Skype for Business Quick Start Guide - Meetings
Basic tasks for scheduling, joining, and running a Skype for Business meeting and description of tool.
WHAT IS SKYPE FOR BUSINESS?
Skype for Business is a collaborative program that can be used for voice calls, video calls, as well as sharing your screen or applications with up to 250 participants. It offers chat features, a virtual whiteboard, polling options, and more to deliver a fully interactive and collaborative experience. Skype for Business is part of the Office 365 suite that the University has purchased and is free to use for all faculty, staff, and students.
WHERE CAN I USE THIS TOOL?
Skype for Business is accessible from any location as long as you are using your UW-Platteville account. You can use it to conference from your office, bring in a virtual guest to your classroom, or collaborate for a student project from your residence hall. You have the option of installing it on your office computer or home computer as part of the Office application package.
BENEFITS AND LIMITATIONS
Benefits: Can invite non-campus members to sessions without them needing a Skype for Business account, Can record sessions, waiting room system convenient for office hours
Limitations: Must have UW-Platteville account to set up a conference, Cannot use to place phone calls with our system
