Network - Lab Policy

The residence hall lab policy provides a few rules regarding the use of labs.

The purpose of the list below is to provide students with an understanding of the lab usage priorities for the computer labs in the Residence Halls. When you are using the computer lab please be respectful of other students in the lab. If the lab is full and students are waiting to use the computer for academic use and you are not engaged in academic activities, you may be asked by another student to use the computer. Please be aware that there are a limited number of computers in each residence hall for the whole residence hall community to use. Priority List of Computer Activities:
  1. Academic Use (e.g. class related projects, papers, and research)
  2. Email
  3. Web Browsing

Unfortunately, in the past there have been problems with theft and vandalism in the computer labs in the halls. If you see someone vandalizing computer equipment (hardware or software) please report this to your Resident Director, Resident Assistant, Campus Police or directly to the ITS Help Desk immediately. If the individual who caused the incident is not caught we may have no choice but to close the lab for a period of time. These labs are for your hall community to use. We hope that students understand that the computer labs are community resources and should be treated as such.

If you have questions, please contact the ITS Help Desk at 608.342.1400 or  You may also visit the Help Desk on the first floor of the Karrmann Library.
