Policy - Residence Hall Computer Labs

The purpose of this document is to provide students with an understanding of the computer lab usage priorities in the Residence Halls.

Priorities

There are a limited number of computers in each residence hall for use by the entire residence hall community. For that reason, usage should be prioritized in the following order:

  1. Academic use (e.g. class related projects, papers, and research)
  2. Email
  3. Web browsing

Please be respectful of other students in the lab. If the lab is full, and students are waiting to use a computer for academic use, and you are not engaged in academic activities, be willing to give up your spot if you are asked by another student to use the computer.

Reporting damage

Residence hall computer labs are community resources and should be treated as such. If you see someone vandalizing computer equipment (hardware or software), please report this to your Resident Director, Resident Assistant, University Police, or directly to ResNet in the ITS Help Desk immediately. If the individual who caused the incident is not caught, we may have no choice but to close the lab for a period of time.
