Instructions on how to connect to the Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching Site
As of February 14, 2019, Microsoft has changed how students access software that was once distributed through Kivuto (aka. Microsoft Imagine or Dreamspark). Accounts from the Spring 2019 term that were in Kivuto were automatically transferred over to this new portal. However, Microsoft has not yet provided a way to manage new users or update current users in the new portal.
While the instructions below may vary in what you see for prompts, the most important piece is that you must have a personal Microsoft account first. It will not work if you try to authenticate with your Office365 account from UW-Platteville. If you do not already have a personal account you can create one by following the steps at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026324/microsoft-account-how-to-create.
Once you have that account created you can attempt to walk through the steps below to associate it with the Dev Tools website. If you are unable to complete the process, please contact the ITS Help Desk on the first floor of the Karrmann Library.
Step 1: Go to
Step 2: Click On blue Sign in button.
Step 3: Sign in with a personal Microsoft Account. You will have to create one if you do not have one. Do not sign in with your NetID (UW-Platteville) credentials.
IMPORTANT: Accounts were created in the new DevTools website based on the accounts that were created in the original MS Imagine. This is going to connect to a Personal Microsoft Account and not your UW-Platteville associated account for Office365. The Microsoft Imagine portal was not directly connected to your UW-Platteville credentials so neither is the new DevTools website. However, you should use your UW-Platteville email address as your username, or you will not be authenticated as an education member.
Step 4: You will then be prompted to link your old Imagine account which is your UW-Platteville email. If you are not being prompted for this, clear your browser's cache or try a different browser. Once you enter your UW-Platteville email, you will receive an email with a URL to confirm the link to your personal Microsoft Account.
Step 5: Login to Azure Dev Tools using your personal Microsoft Account now and in the future.
If you account was created successfully, under the heading of "Education - Quick Start" you should see a link for "Software". If you
do not see “Software” in the Quick Start Menu, then the account has not been
