This guide contains useful information for authors on navigating the UWP - Class Enrollment subject area.

Academic dimensions - describes the student’s academic majors and status

Major, Minor, Pre-professional plans, usually w/ degree in name

Academic Standing

e.g. Good, Probation etc.

Timeframe dimension – defines the time for analysis

Term

Term (semester) for the data. 

Student dimensions – describes the student and key attributes

Describes the student

-Person Attribute – e.g. citizenship, FERPA, etc.

-Person data e.g. name, ID, gender

Admission dimensions

Campus

Campus and Location associated with the student’s program

Program Status dimensions

-Program Status – currently only including Active and Complete

-Program Action – most recent action of the student’s program

-Program Action Reason most recent reason of the student’s program action.

Residency

- Residency - Official e.g. Resident, Non-Resident, TSI

- Residency - Tuition e.g. Resident, Non-Resident, TSI, Minnesota

Student Group

-Student Groups the student is or was in.  Effective status and effective date are included to determine if the student is still active in the group.

-Engineering Partnerships are for the EMS ME and EE partnership program

-Teacher Education has its own field

-International has its own field.

Terms – Catalog and Graduation

-Term Expected Graduation Term - Intent to Graduate term.

-Term Requirement Term - Catalog Term – student must fulfill requirements as of this term to graduate.

- Term Completed Term - Term of Graduation.  Occasionally a student will complete their graduation requirements after their last enrolled term.  This subject area only captures completed term data associated with an enrolled term.

Withdraw Code

Date and Code for withdrawal from the university.  This subject area only captures data associated with an enrolled term.

Class dimensions – describes the class

Course Academic Organization, Department, Subject

-Campus – associated with the class, separates UW Colleges Online.

-Subject College, Department, Sub-Department, status – Org tree for Subject and academic organization.

-Academic Organization – associated with the course

- Subject, code, and description – full list of descriptions.

Course

Course catalog and course offer values.    e.g. Biology 101 is a course, regardless of lab and lecture, or numerous sections. 

Class

Individual sections of courses.  Subject, Catalog Number, Instructor section, class number, status, type, attributes, combined section code, associated class, class enrollment status, topic ID, class dates, acad group and acad org

Class Instruction Mode

Instruction mode.  E.g. In Person, Intern, Independent Study, etc.

Class Meeting Pattern

-Building, room, days, time – one row per class

-Instructors.  Includes secondary instructor.  One row per class.

Class Primary Instructor

Primary instructor person data

Class SSR Component

SSR Component – e.g. Lab, Class, Discussion, etc. 

Class Session

Timeframe for the class – e.g. regular session, 8 week, etc.

Campus Location

e.g. Off campus, Platteville, UW Colleges Online

General Education SLO

Strategic Learning Outcome classes – Legacy dimension

Student Class dimensions – describes the student in the class

Enrollment Status, Reason, Add and Drop Dates

-Day Enrollment Add and Drop dates

-Enrollment Status – status as of census date - dropped or enrolled

-Enrollment Reason – includes status for withdrawal after census date.

Grade

End of term grade applied for the class, grading basis, grade points

Repeat

Repeat descriptions and scheme for students who repeat a class.  E.g. Repeat-Doesn’t count in GPA, Dean permission – average etc.

UWP Attendance Grade Roster

Tracking for student attendance during first ten days.
